We have a shared belief: Bitcoin has the power to reshape how employers think about compensation. 

Scott spent nearly two decades helping companies design benefits strategies. Over time, he saw that traditional plans weren’t keeping pace with what employees truly valued. When he discovered Bitcoin in 2020, he recognized it as both a disruptive technology and a financial innovation—precisely the kind of breakthrough needed to transform an industry that had been slow to evolve. 

Josh had just exited an oilfield services company he founded and moved to Kelowna with his family. After more than 30 years of building businesses and creating innovative technologies in various markets, he was looking for a challenge where he could apply that lifelong experience to a new frontier. Meeting Scott provided exactly that. Over coffees, Scott shared his vision for Bitcoin in the workplace, and Josh saw how he could help turn this idea into tangible compensation products for the world’s largest employers. 

Together, they launched Block Rewards—combining Scott’s expertise in group benefits strategies with Josh’s experience in building corporate infrastructure and bringing technology-based products to the market.  

Our mission is simple: Build a suite of software tools that empower employers to offer Bitcoin as a financial reward in unique, desirable and novel ways!

Jay Sexton is a visionary people technology leader at the forefront of integrating Bitcoin into the future of employee pay and benefits. Jay brings 20 years of experience in HR technology consulting (Deloitte, PwC) and leading solution delivery teams (Aritzia, Manulife / John Hancock) implementing and supporting Workday at global organizations.

Doug is a CTO with 7 years of experience in technical sales and a track record of success selling to some of the biggest companies in Canada, including Canaccord Genuity and Cenovus Energy. He has brought 4 different SaaS products to market and one of them to the public markets on the TSXV.

Chief Financial Officer
Travis is a designated CPA, CFA, and CBV with a background in mergers and acquisitions and as a fractional CFO for small and medium sized businesses and charities. Since finally understanding bitcoin in 2021, Travis has constantly carved out opportunities for businesses to utilize bitcoin.

From sports coaching to Bitcoin, Seb’s path has been anything but conventional. As the author of the bestseller “The Hidden Cost of Money”, he uses writing and public speaking to make complex economic ideas feel personal, practical, and empowering.

John is a lifelong builder and passionate Bitcoiner who began his career in Architecture before transitioning to digital ventures. He co-founded two profitable SaaS startups, including a CRM business built in 1999. John then switched his focus to building in Bitcoin, working in a couple of startups before joining Block Rewards.
